MotoeXotica Classic Cars is excited to present this big block powered and aggressively stanced 1962 Chevrolet BelAir Custom Twodoor Sedan for your review.
Under the hood is a 409 CID TurboFire V8 backed by a fourspeed manual transmission, completed with period correct shifter. That hood, and all of the other exterior panels are red with a new red interior to match. This is another Chevrolet fullsized muscle racer, with no power steering, power brakes or airconditioning. Car has four air bags to improve its handling and ride control. The controls are mounted in the glovebox and this BelAir also sports Corvette Z06 crossdrilled front brake rotors
Its red paint and related trim is in excellent shape, with only minor blemishes visible on the drivers side door. The glass panels are in very good order, with just some slight scratches showing on the rear window. The cars lights are complete, intact and clear. This BelAir rolls on Zrated Falken FK452 tires, 245/40ZR18 in front and 245/40ZR20 in back, surrounding Rocket racing wheels. The body panels are all straight, the engine bay is quite tidy and the battery appears new.
Inside, the red bench seats are in excellent order, as is the matching carpet, the contrasting, white, headliner, the red metal dashboard, the twospoke steering wheel, door panels, mirrors and shifter, which is capped by a white ball. This car is a radio delete model.
For 1962, all sheet metal except the door panels was changed. Overall length was stretched slightly to 209.6inches. The fourdoor Sport Hardtop was no longer offered in the BelAir series. Standard engines remained the same as the previous year. A new327CID V8 was offered in addition to the giant (for the time)409CID V8 with the dual fourbarrel carburetor setup. All wagons that year were fourdoor models and separate distinctions for wagons were dropped. All models were Biscayne, BelAir or Impala series. Full carpeting returned as standard equipment on all 1962 BelAir models for the first time in several years. The BelAir Sport Coupe was in its last year of U.S. production, and its roofline was a carryover from the 1961 hardtop coupe.
Competitors to this BelAir in 1962 included Fords Galaxie, and Plymouths Belvedere.
