Its sleek, stylish and remains full of charm more than 45 years later. MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present this 1972 Jaguar XKE Series III 2+2. The Jagaur XKEs have become remarkable collector items over the years. The first year of the third series, this car was built on December 17, 1971 in Coventry, England. This example is one of only5,143 Jaguar models sold in the US during 1972, during that time Jaguar had 301 dealers nationwide

This handsome Jaguars paint and trim are in overall excellent order, with some slight blemishes upon close inspection. Overall, the cars bodywork is straight with nice chrome, the engine bay is quite tidy, the battery appears newer and the bumpers are in excellent order.

This big cat rolls on Michelin whitewall radials, size 205/70R14 at all four corners. Each tire surrounds a factory wire wheel with knock offs. The tires are in very good order while the chrome wire knock off wheels are in good shape.

Under the forwardhinged front end (hood, fenders, headlights and front bumper), is the original 5.3L SOHC V12 engine with four ZenithStromberg 175CD2SE carburetors and mated to the original optional BorgWarner threespeed automatic transmission. The engine was originally developed for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Driver convenience features include airconditioning, power steering and power disc brakes.

Inside, the dark blue interior is in overall great condition. The Connolly bucket seats are in very good condition, as is the matching Wilton wool carpeting. The headliner is in similar shape while the threespoke steering wheel looks ready to cruise. The instrument panel, with its array of rocker switches and gauges, is in very good order, as are the inner door panels. The horn is inoperable. Completing the interior are the gearshift lever, the long, silver parking brake lever and a aftermarket AM/FM stereo with CD player.

The EType Series 3 was introduced in 1971. The short wheelbase FHC body style was discontinued, with the Series 3 available only as a convertible and 2+2 coup. The newly used longer wheelbase now offered significantly more room in all directions. The Series 3 is easily identifiable by the large crossslatted front grille, flared wheel arches, wider tires, four exhaust tips and a badge on the rear that proclaims it to be a V12.

On its release in March 1961,Enzo Ferraricalled it the most beautiful car ever made.In 2004,Sports Car Internationalmagazine placed the EType at number one on their list ofTop Sports Cars of the 1960s.In March 2008, the Jaguar EType ranked first inThe Daily Telegraphonline list of the Worlds 100 most beautiful cars of all time. Outside automotive circles, the Etype received prominent placement inDiabolikcomic series,Austin Powersfilm series and the television seriesMad Men.

Competition to this Jaguar in 1972 included the Aston Martin V8, BMWs 3.0 CS, Chevrolets Corvette, De Tomasos Pantera, Jensens Interceptor III, MercedesBenzs 450 SLC and Porsches 911.

Documentation includes the original owners manual.
