Considered by many to be the most appealing of the T-series Triumphs, the TR-6 was first brought to market in 1968. While the TR-6 was heavily influenced by its predecessor, the new model was extensively restyled by Karmann. Triumph upgraded the suspension and added wider 15 wheels that resulted in a leaner look with a lower stance and improved handling. Power was derived from a 2.5 litre straight-6 with twin carburetors that provided over 100hp. A walnut wood dash held the instruments and front disc brakes were a standard feature. A joy to drive both then and now, the TR-6 very often ranks high on British sports car lists. Their iconic style and sporty characteristics appeal to some of the most discerning drivers and collectors today! The 1976 Triumph TR-6 Roadster featured here is finished in the stunning, factory color combination of Java Green over a black interior with a matching black folding convertible top. According to the accompanying copy of the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate this particular example was completed in January 1976 and was subsequently sold new by British Leyland Motors Inc. in New Orleans, Louisiana. Today the Triumph presents wonderfully with the numbers matching 2.5 litre inline-6 cylinder engine still in place. A mere 42,815 miles are present on the odometer; a number which is indeed believed to reflect the total mileage accrued from new. An excellent assortment of documentation accompanies the TR-6 including the owners manual, previous registration information and accompanying service records. In January 2020 a service was performed by a British Motorcar specialist who installed a new master cylinder and more. This TR-6 now performs as well as it presents and is sure to bring many years of enjoyment to its future caretaker.
