Attention VW Bug fans Just in to MotoeXotica Classic Cars is this 1967 VW Beetle Coupe that goes a little beyond standard. We our selling this bug for a friend of ours and he really spent many hours of labor restoring this car and it really shows

Finished in Lotus White (code L282) this Bug recently arrived with a host of goodies. Its paint and trim are in very good shape, as are the glass panels, which are clear and crackfree. The cars lights are intact, even its reverse lights in the rear bumper and it rolls on 165/80R15 rubber, surrounding Spirit of America fivespoke black alloy wheels, which contrast perfectly with the paint. The cars body panels are straight and solid, the engine bay is tidy and the bumpers look great.

The aforementioned bag of goodies include a 1915cc VW performance flat fourcylinder engine with a laundry list of new parts twoventuri, progressive EMPI carburetor, performance exhaust system, fuel pump, distributor, alternator, starter, ignition coil, clutch and throwout bearing, clutch cable, accelerator cable, Freeway Flyer transaxle, EMPI reverse trigger, shortthrow shifter, brake drums, brake shoes, wheel cylinders and hoses, tie rod ends, turn signal switch and additional oil sump.

Inside, pair of Procar bucket seats replaced the original front buckets and are upholstered in gray. They look very good. The black carpet is in good condition while the white headliner looks good. The white metal instrument panel is in very good order, as are the twospoke steering wheel and inner door panels, mirror glass, shift lever and the attached cupholders and smallitem storage area pooled around the shifter. Rounding out the interior is a Kenwood AM/FM stereo with CD player.

For 1967, stock models featured a yetagain largerdisplacementengine was made available:1500cc, while the1200 and 1300 engines were available, as many markets based their taxation on engine size.1500cc Beetles were equipped with front disc brakes and were identified with a "VW 1500" badge on the engine lid. North America received the 1500 engine as standard equipment, but did not receive front disc brakes. These models were badged with "Volkswagen" on the engine lid along with slimmer exterior chrome.

The rear suspension was significantly revised, including 1350mm swing axles for a widened track, softer torsion bars and the addition of a uniqueZconfigurationequalizing torsion spring. On US models, the generator output was increased from 180 to 360watts; the voltage regulator moved from generator to under the rear seat and the entire electrical system was upgraded from six to 12 volts. A rear antisway bar was added. The clutch disc also increased to 200mm and there was a new 130tooth flywheel. New equipment included a driver's armrest on the door, recessed interior door handles and locking buttons on both doors. Safety improvements included twospeedwindshield wipers, reversing lights (in some markets) and a driver's side mirror. In accord with new USsafety standards, North American models received a dualcircuit drum brake system, a drivers sideview mirror became standard, the clear glassheadlampcovers were deleted; the headlamps were brought forward to the leading edge of the front fenders and the sealedbeam units were exposed and surrounded by chrome bezels.

Competition to this Beetle in 1967 included Chevrolets Corvair, Nissans 1000 and Toyotas Corolla.
