*1993 Land Rover Defender 110 Osprey*In 1983 Land Rover debuted their new Defender based on the earlier Series Land Rovers it was their updated answer to the Willys Jeep-based trucks they had been building since the 1940s but with more of an eye to creature comforts. This was no small task as it also needed to maintain the serious off-road credentials that Land Rover had become so well known for. With the introduction of items such as coil springs an updated interior progressively more powerful engines and in 1984 roll-up windows the Defender became the automatic choice for outdoor adventurers and English farmers alike.As with many cars that become cult classics the enthusiast community for the Defender is massive and a large-scale industry has sprouted up with the sole intention of improving on the trucks with modern accessories. This 1993 Defender 110 is a perfect example of someone who went all out with the updates and has made a very special one-of-a-kind vehicle. To begin the process the truck was sent to Osprey Custom Cars in Castle Hayne North Carolina which specializes in Defender outfitting. They began by putting the truck on a brand new galvanized frame and crucially dropped in a 465 horsepower LS3 V8 and a GM 6L80E automatic transmission which increased power by roughly 4x over a stock Defender. They then went on and upgraded basically every other aspect of the truck from Terra Firma shocks steering stabilizer and heavy-duty track rods to a full Masai dark-tint panoramic glass panel for the rear seats and a set of 18 Kahn Design wheels. The all-new body panels were individually painted in Corris Gray and reassembled on the chassis and the interior was reupholstered in full black leather with heated seats and an Alcantara headliner was added as well.Once this work was all completed the owner enjoyed it for a few years before the Defender was purchased by a new owner who wanted to take the build even further. The first order of business was to remove the rear jump seat for more storage and to afford more space for the fully custom audio system that was to be installed. For the stereo install the owners did the job properly- starting by comprehensively sound deadening the entire vehicle and then adding 10 Morel speakers 2 1000 Watt Arc Audio Amplifiers and a Pioneer head unit with wireless Apple Car Play. On the exterior a full-length low-profile roof rack by Front Runner was installed along with a rear ladder a new front bumper with integrated LED lights and a Warn VR10 EVO winch. Rock sliders were also added along with front and rear LED light bars 1/2 inch wheel spacers and an Alpine rear backup camera mounted on the spare tire. The amount of customization on this truck is a wonder to behold in person and even the most certifiable Land Rover expert would have a hard time finding anything on the truck that hasnt been touched.
