2008 Alfa Romeo 8C

Price: USD $329,500

At the 2003 Frankfurt Auto Show Alfa Romeo unveiled a stunning and evocative new concept car that drew heavily from the companys vast sporting heritage and tugged on the heartstrings of die-hard Alfisti around the world. The curvaceous two-seat coupe harkened back to when Alfas dominated sports car racing and Alfa Romeo plucked even the name8C Competizionedirectly from its storied past. At the time Alfa enthusiasts were desperate for a new flagship from the Milanese firm. Since leaving the US market in 1995 Alfa concentrated its efforts on mid-market executive sedans and stylish coupes sharing a common front-drive platform. They were by many accounts upmarket Fiat products that while undoubtedly capable lacked the magic that endeared many to Alfa Romeo over the years. As soon as the covers came off the press and public begged Alfa to put the stunning 8C coupe into production. Amazingly the bosses at parent company Fiat were listening and in October Alfa unveiled an updated production version to the world at the Paris Salon.Thankfully Alfa Romeo engineers had free rein to develop the concept for the road and they certainly didnt hold back. They designed a bespoke steel chassis structure clothed in carbon fiber for strength and weight management. Alfa Romeos chief designer Wolfgang Egger created the sumptuous coke-bottle styling that perfectly balanced modern design with retro touches. Up front sat the first version of the Ferrari-manufactured 4.7-liter 32-valve V8 that Alfa later shared with Maserati. In classic Alfa tradition this magnificent engine drove a rear-mounted transaxle gearbox for optimal weight distribution. The six-speed paddle-actuated Superfast box was shared with the Ferrari 599 Fiorano delivering lightning-fast shifts across various settings. With 444 brake horsepower at 7000 rpm the Alfa 8C was undoubtedly rapid yet also luxuriously trimmed and visually stunning and fans likened it to a Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta reborn as an Alfa Romeo.Alfa Romeo limited 8C Competizione production to just 500 units worldwide. Of those 500 only 84 US-specification cars were made available through select Ferrari and Maserati dealers all of which got snapped up as soon as the car was announced making the 8C Competizione an Instant Collectible. No more cars can enter the USA until 2033 as non-Federal examples are not eligible for import under current show and display regulations so when the rare opportunity to acquire an 8C presents itself swift action is recommended. This 2008 8C Competizione is car number 13 of 84 original US-market cars and is beautifully presented in black metallic over a black leather interior. This 15500-mile example is one of just 10 US-market cars finished in black and is unique with no other car sharing its combination of colors and options. It has been exhaustively documented by the leading expert on US-market 8Cs and includes a comprehensive binder of service records ownership history and correspondence. In addition to the rare metallic black paintwork it is equipped with Bose Premium Audio Navigation leather headlining contrasting red stitching a full carbon kit and lightweight 5-spoke wheels. This car was initially sold through Maserati of San Francisco and has had four private owners since new. Records show that while in the hands of the Florida-based second owner it accrued the bulk of its miles. The most recent owners acquired the 8C in 2015 when the car showed 15166 miles. It had just received a comprehensive freshening and service at Miller Motorcars in Greenwich Connecticut one of the most experienced and respected exotic car dealers on the East Coast. The work included a 2-year fluid service drive belt replacement water pump belt replacement fitting new tires full detailing and various other service and repair items. Once delivered to the new owner it was thoroughly inspected serviced and further detailed by a marque specialist. During the most recent owners tenure they added just 400 additional miles. The 8C looks striking in black particularly with this cars rare split-spoke machine-finish alloy wheels. The accompanying Carfax report shows no history of damage and the paint and exterior fittings are in excellent condition with only some slight fogging of the headlight lenses noted. The interior features optional perforated leather with contrasting red stitching and red embroidered Alfa Romeo logos on the supportive sport seats. The leather is excellent overall with light wear visible on the drivers outer bolster which is consistent with this cars mileage. Carbon fiber trim features throughout the cabin including on the sills dash console and rear parcel shelf which is tidy and unmarked. Some sticky buttons were rectified by Miller Motorcars though the column shroud and radio buttons are still sticky and the reverse selector switch is worn. Numerous items are included in the sale including a factory car cover owners manuals original window sticker spare key and tool kit.Few modern-era supercars stirred the emotions quite like the 8C. It rocketed Alfa Romeo back to the limelight and cemented the companys legendary status among a new generation of petrolheads. Stunningly beautiful and boasting state-of-the-art construction with traditional Italian flair no collection of exotica is complete without an Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione.Offers welcome and trades consideredFor additional details please view this listing directly on our website https://hymanltd.com/vehicles/7344-2008-alfa-romeo-8c-competizione/
