For 1963 Chevrolet would launch the second generation Corvette, the C2 named the Sting Ray. The sleek, new design featured a futuristic Fastback shape and quad headlamps that were hidden under folding doors in the front. The new profile eliminated the need for a traditional trunk lid, thus dramatically increasing luggage space. A redesigned suspension featured full IRS and improved handling for both street and track applications. Power for all 1963 Corvettes was based around the 327cubic inch V8 with horsepower options ranging from 250 to 360. Transmission options were plentiful with both three and four-speed manuals available, while the two-speed PowerGlide was available for the most discerning customers and would only make it into 2,621 Sting Rays during 1963.
