The Pontiac GTO is considered by many the first true muscle car. When other manufacturers were concentrating on their full size lines Pontiac saw the potential for dropping a big block engine into an intermediate frame and marketing it at a budget price. 1964 was the year that started it all when Pontiac put a GTO package together as an option on their LeMans and Tempest models. This particular example was frame off restored less than 5 years ago and has been driven less than 200 miles since. It is a PHS certified car and came very nicely equipped with a long list of options which include the 4 speed synchro mesh transmission (M20), an AM/FM pushbutton radio, a visor vanity mirror, an inside tilt mirror, an outside remote control mirror, all available lamps (luggage, glove box, roof rail & reading, courtesy, ash tray & lighter, parking brake and under hood), custom seat belts, the rally gauge cluster with tachometer, rally wheels, a center console, power steering, power brakes, tilt steering, Soft Ray tinted glass, a power driver seat, air conditioning, super lift shocks, a posi Safe-T-Track rear axle with 3:23 gears and the GTO package which consists of the 4 barrel 389 ci V8, dual exhaust and exterior badges. The laser straight body and all sheet metal was dipped in E-Coat clear clad before any body work was done and it was painted in its original color of Montero Red with a base coat clear coat provided by Sikkens that looks stunning. The date code correct 389 was professionally rebuilt by Pfeiffers Engine Specialties who stroked it out to a 448 ci that is now putting out 500+ hp and runs better than it ever did with some added performance parts. At the same time the transmission and rear end (which now has 3:42 gears) were completely rebuilt. The original 14 rims were upgraded with 15 replicas that look identical to the originals, the entire braking system was upgraded to a 4 wheel disc set-up by Wildwood, the factory A/C was replaced with a Vintage-Air system and aftermarket water temperature and oil pressure gauges were also added. Other than those items and the fact that the engine is date code correct and has been performance modified this car is 100% correct and is in flawless condition. We would classify this is a # 1 car and as such would appraise at the high NADA value less 10% (because of the engine) which comes out to $93,960. We know this is a buyers marker and have priced it as #2 car for a quick sale so if you like what you see you better pick up the phone before it is too late!
