Exceedingly Rare 1970 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe

The next amazing classic to enter our Pleasanton showroom is this exceptionally rare 1970 Chevrolet Corvette 2 Door Coupe with Steel City Grey exterior paint and a black leather interior. According to the current owner, his one comes highly optioned from the factory with an original LT1, 350 CI V-8 engine matched with the matching 4-speed manual transmission, both of which have been rebuilt within the last 400 miles. This rare and beautiful sports car is in excellent shape as well and it should find a new home quickly at the current asking price.

One of 1,287 LT1 Models Produced in the 1970 Year

Although there were over 17,300 C3 Corvettes produced in the 1970 model year, only 1,287 of them included the $447.60 optional high performance LT1 engine. For comparison, the LS5 big block with 390 HP was a $289.65 add-on, and since so little was known about the brand new high performance LT1, very few were actually sold at the premium price tag. So it’s very hard to tell how many are still in existence today with their factory engines still in-tact. This particular 1970 Chevrolet Corvette is a three-owner lifetime classic that’s nicely documented showing its history. The current owner claims to have documentation proving the numbers-matching drivetrain as well and we see nothing here to lead us to believe otherwise. This example is in very nice original shape as well with very nice paint, an above average factory interior and excellent performance on the open road. This one still moves like a champion.

Only 400 Miles on Rebuilt Factory Engine

Overall, this 1970 Chevrolet Corvette is an incredible find that will make the day of one lucky collector in the weeks to come. These first-year LT1 examples are very rare to surface these days so don’t expect for this one to last long- it’s simply priced too conservatively to stick around our showroom.
