The 1970 Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 by Pininfarina featured here is finished in the stunning factory color combination of Amaranto Red over a Nero full leather interior. This particular example was completed at the Modena, Italy works in December 1969 and was sold new through Luigi Chinetti Motors in Greenwich, Connecticut. By 1988, the 365 GT was under the ownership of noted Ferrari collector Duane Dunwoodie in California. The founder and CEO of a well-known instrumentation firm, Mr. Dunwoodie would enjoy the 365 GT for over 20 years as part of his private Ferrari collection. Beginning in the mid 1990s he commissioned a sympathetic restoration; he invested nearly $45,000 in drivetrain, suspension, brake and paint work while leaving the original Nero leather interior mostly intact. This 365 GT 2+2 presents wonderfully today, displaying only 26,679 original miles. It is accompanied by its original owners manual, warranty book, factory tools, jack and history report from noted Ferrari historian Marcel Massini. Its low mileage, matching numbers, documented history and previous collector ownership provenance ensure that this 365 GT 2+2 will bring many years of enjoyment to its next caretaker. HISTORY OF THE FERRARI 330 GT 2+2 The Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 was unveiled at the Paris Salon in 1967, replacing the 330 GT with a 4.4 liter Colombo V12 that produced 320hp via triple Weber carburation. The hand assembled Pininfarina bodywork bore a resemblance to the 365 California though the front bumpers were more muscular while incorporating the side lights and turn signals. While the 365 GT shared the same wheelbase as its predecessor, it was wider and featured a longer profile than the 330 GT. The chassis was largely tubular in design with fully independent suspension and featured a self-leveling system in the rear that ensured proper suspension geometry whether the vehicle was carrying two or four passengers. Remembered fondly by Ferrari enthusiasts and collectors today, the 365 GT 2+2 was a proper Gran Turismo with lavish features available including power windows, steering and brakes in addition to optional air conditioning. Approximately 800 examples were produced up to 1971 and well-kept examples are highly sought after by collectors today.
