Featured in the 1985 "Robocop" movies. The Ford Taurus was thought to be "The Police Car of the Future" (Ironically, The Taurus wasn't shipped to law enforcement officers until 2012) When in fact the original production design called for a fleet of custom 1969 Chevrolet Camaro's Police cars to be built by Jay Ohrberg Hollywood Cars of California. All six cars were built with flamethrowing engines, ultra custom bodies and vicious car smashing front push bars. Through a lack of communication between production shops for the cars and the costumers, the cars were built and delivered for filming in Texas before it was discovered that the robot didn't actually FIT inside the cars. A handful of Texas Taurus were purchased on location and covered in spray can flat black paint and given the decals and the lightracks from the Camaro's.
