1932 Ford Deluxe Phaeton Hotrod Built by Matt Reynolds of Cincy Street Rods in 2005 Used as Jim Busbys & Dick Munzs Bonneville Speed Week chase car Muntz purchased car to add to his RVM Collection in Madison, Wisconsin Driven from Cincinnati to Bonneville Speed Week 3 times 2005, 2006, 2008 Rare Phaeton bodystyle; this is one of 923 Deluxe Phaetons made in 1932 Original32 Ford frame on a Wescott fiberglass body Crate GM 350 CID V8 (330hp) engine with golden Oldsmobile Rocket valve covers and a 37 Ford Truck hubcap air cleaner housing Turbo Hydramatic 350 threespeed automatic transmission and Ford nineinch rear differential 1959 Corvette steering box, vintage Bell steering whee Snapon rear tonneau cover Instrument panel and firewall signed by famous street rodders: Including Tex Smith and Pete Chapouris of Pete & Jakes Hot Rods Featured in Hop Up magazine, Hemmings Motors News, and Barry Meguires Car Crazy show The 1932 Ford is the epitome of hotrod, and we have had more than a few through our shop here at MotoeXotica Classic Cars but none quite like this 32 Deluxe Phaeton Hotrod.Built by Matt Reynolds of Cincy Street Rods in 2005 and used as Jim Busbys & Dick Munzs Bonneville Speed Week chase car Matt Reynolds of Cincy Street Rods in Cincinnati, Ohio originally built this hotrod for his personal use. Reynolds drove it from Cincinnati to Bonneville Speed Week in 2005, 2006, and 2008. On his last trip he sold to Jim Busby and Dick Munzs for their Bonneville Speed Week chase car for their record holding 32 Ford which went 207mph Munz then added it to his large RVM Classics Collection in Madison, Wisconsin. The Westcott Fiberglass body is finished in a workaday matte brown, the cars paint and minimal trim are in overall very good order and have stayed true to Reynolds original design. The movable windshield is in good shape while the cars lights are in very good order. The headlamps, within elongated, bulletlike housings flanking the hood, are attractive. Overall the cars bodywork is solid and straight. It sits on a original 32 Ford frame that has been fully boxed and a American Stamping xmember and Model A front crossmember. It was then dropped 4inches by a Chassis Engineering IBeam axle with reversedeye Posies transverse leaf springs. The car has no roof or side window glass and the passengerside rear bumper guard is missing but there is a snapon rear tonneau cover for the space behind the driver and passenger. This car rolls on 16inch Ford steel wheel with spun aluminum racing discs surrounded by Excelsior biasply tires, 5.005.2516 in front, and Firestone biasplay tires, 7.5016 in rear. Under that veed nose is a crate GM 350 CID V8 with a Edelbrock 650cfm fourbarrel carburetor, Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, golden Oldsmobile Rocket shorted to Mobile Rocket valve covers and a 1937 Ford truck hubcap air cleaner housing. Buttoned to that is a Turbo Hydramatic 350 threespeed automatic transmission and a Ford nineinch rear differential. Both front and rear axles have Speedway Hollow antiroll bars. Stopping this Ford are hydraulic drum brakes from a 40 Ford. Inside, the car has 1959 Corvette steering, a vintage Bell steering wheel but the horn is inoperable. The firewall and instrument panel, with its full array of vintage gauges and only two modern style hidden gauges that were need to run at Bonneville. Many famous hotrodders autographed the dashboard and firewall including: Hot Rod Hall of Fame member Tex Smith and Pete Chapouristo name a few, it is also peppered with stickers denoting various races the car competed in. The fabriccovered bench seat is in satisfactory order, while the aforementioned steering wheel looks good. This car was featured in the center spread of issue nine of HopUp Magazine, Hemmings Motor News, andCar Crazy with Barry Meguire.
