HISTORY OF THE JAGUAR XK120SE The Jaguar XK120 was unveiled in 1948 at the London Motor Show. Its stylish lines and performance XK engine quickly gained the interest of sporting minded enthusiasts across the globe. With a top speed rated at 120mph the XK120 was the fastest sports car ever offered at the time and the model proved to be a fierce competitor in events such as Le Mans, The Alpine Rally and Mille Miglia. By 1951, competition from other European marquees pushed Jaguar to further enhance the XK120 offerings. The Special Equipment group or SE model as it was known further enhanced the XK engines power output with higher lift camshafts, lightened flywheel and dual exhaust. These optional refinements raised horsepower to 180 and today the XK120SE is considered the pinnacle of all XK120 models.
