Before Lamborghini was known for its flamboyant game-changing supercars the fledgling car manufacturer from SantAgata produced a line of sophisticated and refined Grand Tourers aimed squarely at a lucrative market dominated by Ferrari. The 400 GT 2+2 was an evolution of Lamborghinis first series production model the 350 GT boasting a magnificent 3.9-liter V12 producing 320 horsepower and mated to a robust 5-speed manual gearbox and set in a tubular chassis developed by Giampaolo Dallara. Wrapped in stunning Superleggera bodywork by Carrozzeria Touring the 400 GT was widely regarded as a superb Gran Turismo and a worthy adversary to the best that Maranello had to offer. This 1966 400 GT 2+2 chassis 0745 is understood to be the 70th car built and was originally delivered to a customer in England. In 1974 an enthusiast from Garrison New York bought it from the original owners keeping it through 1996. It was then acquired by the respected specialists at Lamborghini of Orlando who performed a comprehensive bare-metal restoration. During a subsequent ownership it received extensive mechanical work in preparation for rallies and events including a full engine overhaul using a New Old Stock block. Beautifully presented superbly dialed-in and fit for premier driving events worldwide.
