Introduced on February 10, 1950, the Hudson Commodore was the top-of-the-line model for the independent automaker for its 1950 model line sitting above the entry-level Pacemaker and the mid-level Super. Again utilizing Hudsons revolutionary post-war Step-Down design, the 50 Hudsons were spacious and touted as being smoother riding automobiles due to their lower center of gravity. Enabling the Step-Down layout was Hudsons Monobilt body/frame using a novel unitized body rather than a traditional body sitting atop a separate frame. The 1950 aesthetic design was largely left unchanged from the previous years model, however the Custom Commodore from 1949 became the Commodore Custom in 1950.
