*1955 Chevrolet Nomad* * Complete Frame Off Restoration * Custom Air Brush Work By Award Winning Artist Joe Martin * Professionally Built 383 V8 Stroker Motor * Modernized Interior Appointments * Proven Multiple Show WinnerIn 1955 Chevrolet unveiled a new design language for their mid-size line of cars that changed the automotive world forever. Dubbed the Tri-Five as they were produced for three model years; 1955 1956 and 1957 this new more angular look became an immediate success and has transcended the car world to become an American Icon. This new style was adapted by Chevrolet onto their sedans coupes convertibles and station wagons and mid way through 1955 Chevrolet introduced their newest variant- the Nomad sport wagon. At first glance the Nomad looked like a standard Chevrolet wagon but on closer inspection the car had only two doors a more aggressive roofline and was equipped as standard with the 265ci V8. These unique features placed the Nomad as one of the most expensive new Chevrolets available in 1955 with a base price of almost $1 000 more than Chevrolets base sedan which started below $1 600. In light of this the Nomad is easily the rarest of the Tri-Five Chevrolets with less than 7 500 of the 1.7 Million Chevy buyers selecting the two door wagon in 1955.This 1955 Chevrolet Nomad has been modified to a show winning level with countless hours of attention furnished on every aspect of the vehicle during its frame off restoration. The first thing you notice when you walk up to this car is the stunning paint and body work- razor straight panels and clear attention paid to making sure every body gap lines up perfectly all the way around the car. The Nomad was then painted in a beautiful custom shade of PPG paint called Viper Red and then to top it off a custom flame job was carried out by famed airbrush artist Joe Martin of Martin Bros Customs in Johnson City TX. All of the exterior brightwork has been replated and shines better than the day it rolled out of the General Motors factory in 1955 and the appearance is completed with a set of staggered Coy 5-spoke wheels. Underneath the car things get even more interesting- with the addition of coilover suspension at all four corners a 4-link rear end and RideTech tubular control arms this Nomad is destined to handle as good as it looks. Get the car up on a lift and you will notice the fully powder coated frame and absolutely spotless floor pan.Under the hood the great for 1955 265ci V8 was replaced with a 383ci V8 stroker motor built by Garys Machine Shop in Mesquite TX. Featuring Pro Action heads Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor March pulley system and MSD ignition this engine should prove not only powerful but also reliable. Joe Martin also continued his masterful airbrushing in the engine bay with custom touches on the valve covers and firewall. The power is run through a 700R4 4-speed automatic gearbox with a Hughes torque converter out to a narrowed Ford 9-inch rear end with 3.73 gears in the rear. On the inside the front bench seat was removed and in its place are a pair of Nissan 350Z seats upholstered in grey Mercedes-Benz leather to match the rear bench. Between the front seats is a center console painted the same red as the exterior with flame airbrushing to match and the floor has improved sound deadening with a new high end grey carpet set. Vintage Air has been added to keep you cool as you enjoy the car and the upgraded gauges from Classic Instruments will provide accurate readings. With such a comprehensive build on this Nomad it is no wonder that the car won the Goodguys PPG Dream Car award and won the Super Chevy Editors Choice award after appearing in the magazine. This 1955 Chevrolet is a proven show winner as well as a great driver that would be a crown jewel in any collection.*Upgraded Features* * PPG Viper Red Paint With Custom Airbrush Work * 383 V8 Stroker Motor * Edelbrock 4-Barrel Carburetor * Pro Action Heads * MSD Ignition * 700R4 4-Speed Automatic Gearbox * Four Link Rear Suspension * Coilovers On All Four Corners * Upgraded Power Brakes * Coy 5-Spoke Wheels * Powder Coated Frame * Vintage Air Conditioning * Billet Specialties Steering Wheel * Mercedes-Benz Leather Interior * Improved Sound Deadening * Classic Instruments Gauges*Additional Information* * Includes Copies Of Magazines Featuring This Nomad * Super Chevy Magazine * Goodguys GazetteFor more information on this or any of our High-Performance Luxury Exotic Classic and Special Interest cars always in stock contact one of our friendly and knowledgeable sales consultants or always feel free to drop by our 40 000+ sq ft of Indoor Showrooms in Bellevue WA - Home of an Exciting Inventory of Luxury Exotic High Performance and Collectible Automobiles.
