This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible was impeccably restored and immaculately maintained while under the stewardship under its most recent 20+ year owner. During the span of 1955, 1956, and 1957, Chevrolet produced some of its most iconic passenger cars of all time in a period that would later become known as the Tri-Five era. In the final year of the Tri-Five era, 1957, the Bel Air was perhaps the most recognizable and quintessential Chevy. In 1957, the Bel Air underwent a significant stylistic update from the previous 2 years. At the nose, the Chevrolet Bel Air was significantly redesigned with the addition of a totally new look grille and bumper layout as well as an even flatter hood with dual wind splits. Additionally, to differentiate from the lower-end 150 and 210 models, the Bel Air trim featured an elevated gold anodized V emblem on the front of the hood along with a matching gold V emblem and gold Bel Air script on the trunk. Down the sides, a set of large fins protruding from the rear quarter panels were added in 1957 giving the the car its iconic silhouette. In addition to the redesigned exteriors, the interior and dashes also underwent a significant facelift in 57. Being that the Bel Air was the top-of-the-line Chevrolet passenger car in 1957, the interiors were the plushest and most luxurious across all Chevy models. In addition to their appearances, the 1957 Chevys also saw the introduction of the 283 V8 which offered 18 additional cubic inches of displacement from the previous years 265 V8. This particular 57 Bel Air Convertible comes to us from a private collector who owned the car for over 20 years and purchased it out of West Virginia. Powering this 57 Chevy Bel Air is a 283 Cubic Inch V8 paired with a single 4 barrel carburetor that was said to have pushed out 220 horsepower when new. The Power Pack 283 V8 is backed by a 3 speed manual transmission that is shifted using a Three-On-The-Tree column-mounted shifter, harkening back to the golden age of automobile history. Exhaust exits the 283 V8 via dual exhaust setup that gives this 1957 Belair Convertible a nice throaty sound. Being that the Bel Air was the top-of-the-line passenger car for Chevrolet in 1957, they typically (like this one) came loaded with options! With power steering, manuvering this 1957 Chevrolet convertible in and out of tight spaces at the local drive-in or car show is a total breeze, and the overall driving experience is much improved. The black vinyl power convertible top is in excellent condition and it goes up and down with the simple flick of a switch. A rear-mounted continental kit and a set of matching fender skirts add to the 50s allure of this classic 1957 Chevy. The chrome and brightwork around the exterior of the car is in superb, show-worthy condition. Riding on a set of wide whitewall bias-ply tires each paired with a full Spinner-style wheelcover, this 1957 Bel Air has a true Fiftieslook. The exterior on this 57 Bel-Air has been beautifully refinished in Onyx Black which completes the exterior look of the car. The interior on this Bel Air is absolutely gorgeous! The front and rear bench seats have been reupholstered in Red and Silver two-tone vinyl contrasting with the exterior appearance of this 50s cruiser. The painted dash, upholstered door panels, black carpeting and steering wheel all appear to be in their stock configuration and all are in wonderful condition. The dash is equipped with a 120 MPH Speedometer, temperature gauge, and fuel gauge, along with an AM radio and clock. Whether youre buying your first classic car or youre adding to an existing collection of classics, this 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible would make an excellent choice.
