This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible is an absolutely stunning, Tri-Five Chevy that is absolutely loaded with options including Factory Air Conditioning! The 1950s saw a huge leap forward in American automotive design and styling. By the mid to late 50s American automakers found themselves producing some of their most iconic designs ever, and this was no different for General Motors marque Chevrolet. With the debut of a brand new design across its passenger car line in 1955, Chevrolet was on to something monumental. In fact, starting with its 1955 design and then continuing into 1956 and 1957, Chevy unknowingly kicked off what became to be known among collectors as the Tri-Five era, a three-year trifecta consisting of some of the most popular and iconic American-made cars of all time. Just think about it and try to picture a 50s era movie or TV show today (or that came out in the last 30+ years) that you didnt see a 55, 56, or 57 Chevy parked on the side of the road or cruising in the background; you cant. In the final year of this Tri-Five Era, the 1957 Chevy is arguably the most identifiable and iconic model year of the bunch; inside and out, and from nearly every angle. And, the 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air sat atop Chevys model hierarchy, being the GM marques highest trimmed, most luxurious model at the time, and sported a design that is still unmistakable. Up front, the 57 Chevrolet sported a flatter hood accented by dual spear-style wind splints mounted atop a newly redesigned grille and bumper. The nose was also capped off with an elevated gold anodized V emblem along with a matching gold V emblem, the further elevated the Bel Air above its entry level 150 and the intermediate 210 models. Perhaps the most iconic angle of the 1957 Bel Air is from the side, equipped with a set of large fins protruded from the rear quarter panels, accented with a large anodized trim insert, gives the car its eye-catching silhouette. Even the tail end of the 1957 Chevy Bel Air had its own unique flair sporting a special gold Bel Air script on the trunk. Like the exterior design, the interiors of the Bel Airs also received a major facelift in 1957. Brand new dash styling along with new upholstery made the premium Bel Air models even more plush and increased the overall luxurious look and feel. Of course, in addition to the revolutionary design and style of the 1957 Bel Air, the other extremely significant upgrade occurred under the hood with the introduction of the 283 V8 engine which offered 18 additional cubic inches of displacement from the previous years 265 V8. This particular 57 Bel Air Convertible comes to us from an international collector who took great car of this classic Chevy while serving as its most recent steward. Under the hood on this 57 Chevy Convertible is a 283 Cubic Inch V8 fed by a single 4 barrel carburetor that together were said to have produced 220 horsepower when new. The 283 Power Pack is mated to a Powerglide Automatic Transmission that makes this Bel Air Convertible an easy and enjoyable car for anybody to drive. Exhaust exits this Chevys powerplant via dual exhaust setup that generates a terrific throaty sound out of the rear tailpipes. This 1957 Bel Air is absolutely loaded with features! Power steering makes squeezing into a tight parking space at the local drive in or car show feel almost effortless and the overall driving experience is much improved. Further aiding with parking efforts is the drivers side chrome mirror that makes it much easier to see while parking and while changing lanes on a nice summer cruise. With power brakes, bringing this 3,400+ pound Convertible to a complete stop is also much easier especially with all that horsepower under the hood. Riding on a set of wide whitewall radial tires mounted on steel wheels and accented with Spinner wheel covers, this 1957 Chevrolet looks great and rides even more smoothly. Additionally, the rear wheels tuck neatly
