This 1970 Dodge Challenger RT/SE is an absolutely stunning, real deal Mopar muscle car with great options and an eye-catching High Impact look! 1970 is widely considered the pinnacle of the American muscle car era. While Dodge had already cemented itself in the performance market with models like the Charger and Coronet, it had yet to introduce a true contender in the emerging pony car segment. That all changed when Dodge unveiled the Challenger-its bold entry into a space dominated by cars like the Ford Mustang (which kicked off the pony car craze in mid-1964), the Chevy Camaro, Pontiac Firebird, Mercury Cougar, and AMC Javelin. These compact, aggressive-looking cars offered big performance in sporty, affordable packages, and consumers couldnt get enough. Dodges all-new 1970 Challenger was a hit right out of the gate, with over 84,000 units sold in its first year. The styling was unmistakable: a wide, recessed grille gave the front end a menacing stance, while muscular Coke-bottle body lines and flared rear quarters gave it a powerful silhouette. Out back, the design took a futuristic turn with full-width tail lamps flanking a center-mounted Dodge badge. Dodge also offered a range of trim levels to appeal to every buyer-from the budget-friendly Deputy, to the luxurious SE, and the high-performance R/T and T/A models. With the Special Edition SE Package, the Challenger SE came equipped with numerous trim upgrades including a vinyl roof with special badging along with a distinctive formal rear window that was touted as creating more privacy. Additionally, the SE interiors offered a higher trim level complete with special high back bucket seats, elevated woodgrain and carpeted door panels with unique SE badges, and perhaps most famously, a distinctive headliner complete with the aircraft-inspired Consolette with additional indicators for low fuel, door ajar, and fasten seat belts warning occupants of these conditions. The Challenger R/T in particular featured performance-focused upgrades like heavy-duty brakes, potent V8 engine options, unique R/T badging, and the upscale Rallye instrument cluster. For many enthusiasts, the 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T remains one of the most iconic muscle cars of all time-a true legend born at the height of Detroits horsepower wars. This particular Challenger R/T/SE is said to have sold new in Colorado and is believed to have spent the majority of its life in the Western state. Under the hood-pin secured, blacked-out hood on this 70 Challenger RT/SE is a period-correct 383 cubic inch V8 engine fed by a single 4 barrel carburetor. Exhaust exits this Mopars big block power plant via a set of tubular headers and out through a dual exhaust system that sounds fantastic!
