1973 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona: Originally Factory Argento

This 1973 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona represents the rare opportunity to restore what many consider to be the pinnacle of front-engined V-12 Ferrari grand tourers from the classic era. Chassis 16863 originally left the factory in extremely attractive and desirable Argento (silver) paint before later being refinished in the Rosso it wears today over its Pelle Nera leather interior. This diamond in the rough is a California car just out of an estate and was acquired by Phil Bachman in 1986. Not currently running as it has been parked in storage for several years. The odometer reads 31,070 miles. A unique chance to own a Daytona in restorable condition.

Introduced in 1968 and produced until 1973, it unofficially became known as the Daytona to commemorate Ferraris 1-2-3 finish at the 1967 24 Hours of Daytona. Designed by Leonardo Fioravanti at Pininfarina, the Daytona featured sleek, aggressive styling that departed from previous Ferrari designs. The Daytona?s long hood, fastback roofline and Kamm tail created a purposeful, muscular appearance. It was the fastest production car in the world at its launch with a top speed of 174 MPH. The engine featured four overhead camshafts (hence the /4 designation) and six Weber twin-choke carburetors. Power was delivered to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission with a rear-mounted transaxle for optimal weight distribution. The Daytonas performance was extraordinary for its time, achieving 0-60 MPH in 5.4 seconds. Its combination of raw power, elegant design and exceptional handling made it a formidable competitor to the new generation of supercar rivals.
