*1976 Triumph TR6*The Triumph Motor Company had been building small robust sports cars since before World War 2-primarily bought and used by consumers in the UK. But with the introduction of their TR3 model in 1955 they gained worldwide recognition for their inexpensive and lively cars and became a household name worldwide. Building on the success of the TR3 Triumph began improving their sportscar line with the subsequent TR4 TR5 and TR250- all of which had increased performance but kept the same ethos of reasonably priced fun. In 1969 Triumph came out with their newest iteration- the TR6- with a more modern squared off design and a larger 2.5-Liter Inline-6 engine the TR6 became an immediate success. Styling cues like the British Flag on the rear quarter panel blacked out rear valance and the redline tires became iconic and no TR6 looks complete without them today.This TR6 is a beautiful example from 1976- the final year of production for the model. Finished in a great shade of Pimento Red with a matching hard top this TR6 has been well cared for and slightly modified over the years to maximize driving enjoyment. On the exterior the first thing that draws your eye is the luggage rack on the rear decklid with a matching red luggage trunk which is currently filled with shop manuals and numerous trophies. The bodywork is very straight with largely original paint that presents well and factory fresh looking 15 wheels with aluminum trim rings which are equipped with the quintessential redline tires. The black soft top is in great shape and covered by a black vinyl tonneau cover.Under the hood the car sports a largely stock 2.5-Liter Inline-6 that breathes through dual SU-carburetors and has been well serviced and presents very cleanly. The only modification to the engine is an external oil cooler. The suspension has received a bit more attention with modifications- a set of Spax adjustable front shocks and tube-type rear shocks as well as a rear sway bar help the car handle more competently in the corners. The brakes have been upgraded as well with slotted and drilled rotors for increased cooling. The transmission is a four-speed manual gearbox with an electronic overdrive unit with a satisfying notchy action that shifts well. Recent servicing on the car has consisted of a brake fluid flush and replacement of the clutch slave cylinder and brake master cylinder. Under previous ownership the carburetors were rebuilt and the clutch replaced along with a reconditioning of the rack and pinion steering system.
