This particular fullyoptioned example has been freshly restored and it spent time in arid Arizona and in Colorado; it was previously owned by a Cadillac mechanic. This car comes complete with photo documentation showing that the car was stripped to metal, engine removed and interior was removed and replaced with new seats, carpet and padding. Finished in Dresden Blue Metallic (code 24) with its original chrome, the paint and trim are in overall excellent condition, with only the slightest blemishes visible on close inspection and some dings on the rear deck lid. The cars glass panels are clear and crackfree while the cars lights are intact, hazefree and look great. This Cadillacs bodywork is straight and solid and continues shows off head stylist Bill Mitchells rising influence in the wake of Harley Earls retirement a few years earlier. Mitchell continued to deemphasize the rear tailfins and other outrageous styling hallmarks from 1959. The cars engine bay is quite tidy, the battery looks newer, the trunk is in good order, the bumpers fit tightly to the body. This sixwindow hardtop rolls on Hankook whitewall radials surrounding factory wheel covers. Both tires and wheels are in very good order. The previous owner states that the motor was rebuilt, photos show motor out of the car but no receipts. Under the hood is a 390 CID V8 engine with a Rochester fourbarrel carburetor and 10.5:1 compression ratio. Backing up this motor is a Hydramatic fourspeed automatic transmission and a 2.94:1 rear end. Driver convenience features include power steering, power brakes, airconditioning (code K), EZ Eye Glass (code E), heater (code H), power windows (code X) and sixway power front seat (code Y). The water pump and airconditioning have been recently serviced. Included photos show interior removed with solid original floors. The seats were recentlyreupholstered in vinyl and cloth with new carpet and padding. Inside, the Gray Canberra Cloth and matching fabric interior (code 31) is overall in very good condition. The front and rear bench seats, complete with folddown center armrests, are in very good order, with blue carpet that mirrors the condition of the seats. The complementing headliner is in great shape while the original twospoke steering wheel is in good order. The gray inner door panels and instrument panel are in great condition and echo the interiors overall theme and the gearshift lever is in good shape. Rounding out the interior is a factory AM radio. Cadillac was restyled and reengineered for 1961. The new grille slanted back towards both the bumper and the hood lip, along the horizontal plan and sat between dual headlamps. New forward slanting front pillars with nonwraparound windshield glass were seen. The revised backlight treatment had crisp angular lines with thin pillars on some models and heavier semiblind quarter roof posts on others. Standard equipment included power brakes, power steering, automatic transmission, dual reverse lights, windshield washer, dual speed wipers, wheel discs, plain fender skirts, outside rearview mirror, vanity mirror and oil filter. Rubberized front and rear coil springs replaced the troubleprone air suspension system. Fourbarrel induction systems were now the sole power choice and dual exhausts were no longer available. Competition to this Cadillac in 1961 included Buicks Electra 225 fourdoor HT, Chryslers New Yorker HT Sedan, Jaguars Mark IX Sedan, Lincolns Continental HT fourdoor sedan and Mercurys Meteor 600 Marauder Sedan.
