Quickly the Defender became a popular model for the brand and was adopted by both farmers and those in the city- largely owing to its rugged looks and dependable line of engine options. Although better equipped than previous Land Rovers they were by no means luxury vehicles and numerous companies have appeared since their debut to customize and enhance these trucks with all the modern conveniences we have come to expect. Perhaps the most well known of these companies is Arkonik- based in England their builds were so popular that in the past few years they have set up shop in the United States to service the Stateside Defender owner looking to make a truck their own.This 1991 Land Rover Defender 110 has been thoroughly customized by Arkonik who have left no stone unturned in the building of what could be considered the ultimate Defender specification. Finished in beautiful Corris Gray Arkonik set to work making the exterior much more aggressive with the addition of black over fenders and black diamond plate on the sills and top of the front fenders. A large front bullbar gives the sturdy Warn winch a place to rest and brush guards over the headlights look purposeful and menacing. A full roof length Front Runner roof rack offers tons of storage and tie down options and an integrated ladder is attached at the rear. Beautiful 18 black Kahn Design 1948 wheels sit at all four corners-with a swing away spare on the rear- and all of the wheels are wrapped in knobby BFGoodrich K02 tires.Most Defenders were optioned with small displacement turbo diesel four cylinder engines- adequate for the narrow country lanes in the UK but hardly enough to keep up with todays traffic in the US. That is why this Defender has been the recipient of an LS3 V8 swap- putting out 430 horsepower this Defender has plenty of power to pass on the highway and can accelerate with remarkable speed. Corresponding upgrades such as an aluminum radiator with electric cooling fans has been added and a modern GM 6L80 6-speed automatic gearbox backs up the engine with power going to all four wheels. To slow the truck down a set of Tarox 6-Piston disc brakes have been installed both front and rear with slotted rotors and a Wilwood master cylinder.On the interior is where Arkonik really made their name. Utilizing high quality leather and numerous modern amenities these trucks feel as upscale as they look and provide a great place for you and your family to spend time. The interior of this truck is finished in Wet Sand trim- a rich tan leather by Ruskin Design all of the seats center console and door cards are covered in the material which has been expertly stitched and looks better than anything coming out of Land Rover at the time. A black Alcantara headliner has been installed as well as high end black carpet throughout the truck. The front seats are heated while the rear seats have been upgraded with a high back design and reclining abilities all the way in the back the signature Land Rover dual folding bench seats allow up to 9 people to ride in the vehicle at a time. A Pioneer head unit with Apple CarPlay and a backup camera have both been installed and a wood rimmed 3-spoke steering wheel sits in front of the driver and gives the insides a bit of the classic English car feel.The build on this truck was completed in 2019 and since then the truck has been driven just 4 989 miles meaning that it is nearly new as far as condition is concerned but used enough that any of the potential issues have been sorted.
